DayONE Access Changes – Effective Summer 2026
All DayONE course materials in Canvas will now be accessed through the DayONE Materials link in the left‑hand course menu.
What’s New
- Faculty and students will use the DayONE Materials link to access eBooks, courseware (Cengage MindTap, NOWv2, OWLv2, SAM, WebAssign), and opt‑out options.
- The DayONE Materials link is always available on the left navigation menu.
- The DayONE Access module/link is no longer needed.
- If you do not see the DayONE Materials link, it may be hidden—contact eLearning or your course administrator to unhide it.
Faculty Instructions (Cengage)
Some courses (Hybrid and Online) may already be set up using a model. If not, Traditional and Blended sections may request a model course or complete the steps below.
To‑Do Checklist
- Remove old links
- Delete any student used Cengage courseware links from the left navigation menu.
- If your course was copied from a previous term, delete the DayONE Access module and link.
- Note: Leaving old links will not cause errors, but they are no longer needed.
- Access course materials
- Click DayONE Materials on the left‑hand menu.
- Log in and complete your Cengage courseware (MindTap, NOWv2, OWLv2, SAM, WebAssign) course setup.
- Share student instructions
- Add the condensed student instructions below to your syllabus or a “Getting Started” module.

Condensed Student Instructions: How to Access DayONE Materials
- Log in to Canvas and open your course.
- Click DayONE Materials on the left‑hand menu.
- Select Load DayONE in a new window.
- Click Launch Courseware.
- Ensure pop‑ups are allowed.
- Or click any assignment link or link to Cengage content to continue the registration process. (MindTap, CengageNOWv2, OWLv2, SAM, WebAssign)
- Not sure where to click? Ask your instructor or try clicking on a few links. You’ll know you’ve clicked the right one when you see the Cengage login screen.
- If you already have a Cengage account, log in now. New to Cengage? Click “Create Student Account” and register. Use your gtcc.edu email.
- To verify your account, open the ‘Welcome to Cengage’ email you just received and click ‘Activate Cengage Account’ to set your password and complete the registration process. Be sure to use the same device and browser to create and verify your account. (You might already have a Cengage account if you’ve used MindTap, CengageNOWv2, OWLv2, SAM, WebAssign or another Cengage platform in a different course) Linking your accounts is a one-time process. If you’ve previously completed this step for another course, you won’t be prompted to do it again.
- Click “Continue” to access your course.
Important: Always access Cengage materials through Canvas to maintain automatic access and grade sync.

Opt‑Out Information
Opting out is not recommended, as these materials are required for the course and provided at a reduced cost.
How to Opt Out
- Click DayONE Materials on the left menu.
- Select Load DayONE in a new window.
- Click “Want to opt out?”
- Choose a reason and confirm.
Important Notes
- If you opt out, you must purchase materials on your own.
- A refund will be issued to your student account (typically 4–6 weeks).
- Access ends after the opt‑out deadline.
- You may opt in before the deadline only.
