Faculty Canvas Page Setup for Norton Courseware
We are changing how Norton eBooks will be delivered in Canvas starting Spring 2025. You will no longer have to add the Norton tool and eBook URL to Canvas. The eBook will be accessed through the DayONE link. Inquizitive will operate the same with integrated assignment links.
VitalSource has completed an auto upload of the DayONE Access Module and link.
TO DO LIST-
PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL STEPS, IF YOU DO NOT CLICK LAUNCH COURSEWARE AND CREATE A STUDENT SET, STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE EBOOK.
· If you copied a previous terms Canvas page over to your current term and your course had the DayONE Access Module and link already on it, then this will copy over to your current terms Canvas page. Please delete the link from the previous semester.
If this is your first time your course is in the DayONE Access program or you did not copy a previous semesters page over, then you should only have the DayONE Access module and link.
This new link will be found under Modules. The module is named: DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware) Please do not change the name of this Module.
· Move the DayONE Access Module to the top of the Modules page so that students can easily find their course materials. (Video Instructions HERE)
· Click the DayONE Access link under the DayONE Access Module.
· Load it in a new window.
· Click the Launch courseware button. This will take you to the eBook adopted for your course.
· Log into Norton and create a student set. The directions for how to do that are https://knowledgebase.wwnorton.com/help/digital-landing-page-course-setu.... Click or tap if you trust this link.">here.
· Add the student instructions, in the next section or the link to step by step instructions to the DayONE Module and include these in your syllabus.
· Add a new tab to the DayONE Access module, if you use Inquizitive, to direct students to an Inquizitive assignment to register their Norton account.
· Add a new tab to the DayONE Access module named “Troubleshooting Tips”, HERE are the trouble shooting tips for students.

Here is a condensed version of our step-by-step student instructions found online. You may want to add these to your syllabus or a link to the more detailed version.
1. Sign into Canvas and enter your Canvas course.
2. To access the eBook go to the DayONE Access module; Click on the DayONE Access link; Load it in a new window.
3. Accept the Terms of Use and Privacy policy, then click Continue. (You will only do this the first-time accessing materials)
4. Read the note to students, then click continue.
5. If your course uses Inquizitive assignments, you can expect to find Norton Activity links under Assignments or in a Module. Click on any InQuizitive Assignment. (note location and naming of Inquizitive maybe specific to your course)
6. Begin reading and working! You now have access to ALL of your required course materials.
7. Remember: always access your Norton content from your Canvas course to continue enjoying codeless access and grade syncing.

Opting Out
Please be advised it is NOT recommended that you Opt-Out, as these materials are required by your professor to complete the course and the fee charged is the at a very low market price, but to do so:
- Go to the Module named: DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware)
- Click on the link DayONE Access (eTextbook and Courseware).
- Click on: Load DayONE in a new window.
- Click the ‘Want to opt-out?’ button.
- Select your reason why and click Opt Out.
If you Opt Out, you will be responsible for purchasing these materials on your own. A refund of your book/courseware fee will be put back on your student account for you to receive your refund in 4-6 weeks. You will lose access to your courseware after the opt out deadline has past.
You can opt back in at any time before the opt out date; the option to opt in will not be available after the opt out day.
If you have OPTed OUT and it is after the deadline when you click on the DayONE access link and the launch courseware button to access the eBook, any reading or any Inquizitive assignment, you will see that payment is required or you can use your own access code. Once you do either of these your access will be restored.
